Did you know that Infrared Heat is healing for our bodies?

Infrared heat is a warm, invigorating,  radiant heat very similar to the warmth produced by the sun. The infrared energy penetrates all layers of the human body: tissue, ligaments, bones, and muscle.


Practicing yoga in infrared heat increases circulation, strengthens your immune system, improves arthritis, inflammation and promotes radiant skin. The infrared heat also increases blood flow which helps aching and injured muscles recover faster.


Infrared heat also promotes weight loss due to the sweat that expels toxins and impurities. Your metabolism is energized by the infrared heat combined with asanas (yoga poses) which promote lengthening and strengthening of the body.


The embracing warmth of the infrared heat also promotes relaxation and tension release which leads to lower blood pressure, lower sugar and cortisol (stress) levels, as well as lowering anxiety and depression.


Infrared heat is very safe (it is used in premature babies incubators), and it is not the same as the humid, high temperatures used in some hot yoga studios. Our classes will have a temperature of 85 degrees and no humidity. The infrared heat is very pleasurable and relaxing and produces a feeling of well-being which promotes significant improvements both psychologically and physiologically.

Definition of Infrared Heat

  • Infrared Heat is warm, radiant heat that works by using your own body’s energy to heat the room as you move  in a yoga or fitness class.
  • Please do not confuse humid, extreme temperature yoga classes with the hot yoga classes at HG which will have a temperature of 85 degrees and no humidity.
  • Infrared heat is similar to the warmth produced by the sun.
