Our History

I love to tell my classes stories of the ‘old gym' days! Growing up with a dad who was a bodybuilder, gym-owner and titled ‘Mr. New Jersey’ may have had an impact on me! Working in his gyms gave me tremendous work ethic and insight into fitness. I remember recognizing early on that so much of fitness was one dimensional - there was no fusion of disciplines. Even back then, I had a vision.

With my dance background, innovative thinking, and gym experience, I found my passion was for blending fitness disciplines to create fun, effective workouts.  After more than 25 years of working for corporate gyms, I took the leap, and went out on my own. "Kettlebell in the Park" was born in the summer of 2014 and it was a great success.

In the summer of 2016, I opened Heather’s Gym. My vision was a community studio where I would know everyone by name. A studio where my instructors could be creative with different equipment so we could deliver a fantastic variety of workouts! I envisioned a studio where the purpose of being fit is to feel great and enjoy your life. 

A little more than a year after opening Heather’s Gym, I opened Libertyville’s first and only indoor cycling studio, HG Cycle (located inside of CrossFit Freedom). 

I love being a boutique studio owner because it allows me the special opportunity to connect with members, respond to their wants and needs, and truly have a positive impact on our community. I love having entire families together in my classes.


I believe that exercise should be fun and a celebration of what our bodies can do! Come try a class and have some fun while making your body fit.

Our Philosophy

Here at Heather's Gym our philosophy is: MIX IT UP and have FUN! And have fun, we do! We have the best instructors around, great music, and lots of laughs! We are known for our friendly environment where everyone feels welcome and everyone gets a great workout - clients work at their own level in our group classes. 

Our instructors bring their expertise and personal style to classes such as Tabata Training, CARDIObarre, Willpower & Grace, U-JAM, PEAK Performance, PiYo, Pilates MIX, Kettlebell Interval Training, and Slow FLOW & Restore Yoga. Instructors are creative with their classes and treat their classes like a personal training session with a fun group vibe.
